Set around 200 years before the events of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, The High Republic will explore the golden age of the Jedi, introducing new characters and fresh new stories.

Fans finally get their first look into the opulent era with a preview of the debut issue in Marvel's new Star Wars: The High Republic comic series.

The pages see the fierce young Padawan named Keeve as she tries to prove herself to her teacher, Sskeer. The Jedi Master seemingly has the same problem various Star Wars characters have experienced, Sskeer is also missing an arm.

The preview also sees Keeve encounter a Ximpi, a species that was created by Charles Soule for his Lando Calrissian mini-series back in 2016. You can check out the first few pages below!

"You'll see things you never expected in a Star Wars story," says writer Cavan Scott. The author came up with the character Keeve in their first Project Luminous summit. Scott says she turned out exactly how he imagined the character would be and "a lot more." As Keeve begins her Jedi trial under his master, Scott teases that not everything will go according to plan.
