Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will hit theaters in less than a month. However, most of the fans are still curious about the nature of Rey and Finn's relationship. What kind of connection do both characters have? Does Finn have feelings for Rey or does he just admire the film's heroine? Actor John Boyega shares his thoughts about their relationship.

In a recent interview with a German outlet called Cinema, Boyega was asked about whether or not Rey and Finn will actually become a couple in The Rise of Skywalker. The interviewer mentioned how there are some "sparks" between the two, to which the actor answered, "You think?" He claims that he has always seen their relationship as something more "platonic." "Maybe it's because I, myself, have good female friends I want nothing from," Boyega added.

The actor thinks that when people meet under "extreme circumstances," just like their characters did, it "binds" them together. "They hang onto each other," he added. He claims that Finn "has an eye on someone else" and the same goes for Rey.

Boyega pointed out that he is firm with his opinion regarding the character's relationship. "I stand with it. Those two are just good friends," he said.

The actor seems to be stating the truth since Poe Dameron actor Oscar Isaac mentioned in a previous interview that Episode IX will see more of the sequel heroes together. The film is said to explore "the dynamic between these three characters that love each other." Which suggests that their relationship would most likely come out as just friends.

In The Last Jedi, Finn had some sort of connection with Rose Tico, which is possibly the person he "has an eye on." As for Rey, theories about the character linked with Kylo Ren are apparent. Some fans think that they either have a romantic connection or a familial one.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20.
