Star Trek: Picard Finale Confirms a Major Change to Jean-Luc

The first season of Star Trek: Picard has reached to a close with the episode "Et in Arcadia Ego, Part 2." It has been quite a journey for Picard and the crew, but one of the most surprising parts is that it has finally given a conclusion to the show's subplot regarding Jean-Luc's death.

Many Star Trek fans have guessed earlier on that there is a story within the show that's following Picard's struggle of inevitable death. The episode revealed that android creator Altan Soong was one of the pioneers for the next generation synths that are hiding out on Coppelius. He also pioneered the "Golem," a synthetic body with the ability to get an organic mind transferred to it. By this part, fans seemingly know where this is going. Since Picard's mind no longer works in his body, this was a clear solution.

Picard piloted the ship against the Romulan fleet. Though Will Riker manages to save him and the synthetic community, his brain disease has finally claimed Picard's organic life. Picard says one last goodbye to everyone before dying. However, he was not in the afterlife, as one would expect. Instead, he is in a simulation where his mind is housed. Jean-Luc wakes up in his new synthetic body, thus, the birth of Android Picard.

Though some fans were nervous to find out Picard's fate in the show given the season-long subplot of him dying, the finale made a major change to Picard, a cutting-edge synthetic body. Needless to say, fans can't wait to see more of Jean-Luc's adventures.
