Star Trek: Picard Earns Five Emmy Award Nominations

Star Trek: Picard is nominated for five Emmy Awards!

The 72nd Annual Emmy Awards nominations were just announced with the first season of the Star Trek series earning five nominations. CBS ran a campaign promoting lead star Patrick Stewart as well as other members of the creative team. That said, all the show's nominations were in the technical "Creative Arts" categories.

Picard was nominated in the following categories:

  • Outstanding Period And/Or Character Hairstyling for the episode "Stardust City Rag"
  • Outstanding Period And/Or Character Makeup (Non-Prosthetic) for the episode "Stardust City Rag"
  • Outstanding Prosthetic Makeup For A Series, Limited Series, Movie Or Special for the episode "Absolute Candor"
  • Outstanding Sound Editing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) for the episode "Et In Arcadia Ego: Part 2"
  • Outstanding Sound Mixing For A Comedy Or Drama Series (One Hour) for the episode "Et In Arcadia Ego: Part 2"

Star Trek: Short Treks was also successful in earning a nomination for Outstanding Short Form Comedy or Drama Series.

Star Trek: Picard sees Stewart reprising his role as Jean-Luc Picard, while also serving as the show's executive producer. The season finale brought a huge surprise for the character who'll go on to have adventures in Season 2 in a slightly different way.

Star Trek: Picard Season 1 is available to stream now on CBS All Acces and arrives at home media on October 6. The show has been renewed for a second season. While the Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony will be held in early September, with the main Emmy Awards to be aired on Sunday, September 20 on ABC.
