Now that Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is officially heading to production, fans are excited about the possible new alternate Spideys that'll make an appearance. With The Spider-Man: The Animated Series one of the most beloved adaptations of the character, is voice actor Christopher Daniel Barnes open to returning for the Spider-Verse sequel?

"That would be great," Barnes told It's Recording Time when asked if he'd like to appear in Spider-Verse 2. "I've reprised the role several times in video games ... so that would be great."

Barnes says he would be "honored" to do it again, however, he admits that he's "getting kind of old to do it." That being said, he's open to playing an "older" Spider-Man.

The Spider-Man: The Animated Series show ran on the Fox Kids Network from 1994 to 1998, with Barnes lending his voice for 5 seasons made up of 65 episodes. Since the show ended, Barnes also voiced the wall-crawler in various video games like Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. He also voiced other characters such as Spyder-Knight, Wolf Spider, and Sinister Six member Electro.

While details about Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 are mostly kept under wraps, it'd be a nice surprise for fans if Barnes were to be featured in the Spider-Verse sequel, considering that Spider-Man: The Animated Series has become one of the most beloved shows involving the wall-crawler.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 is set for release on October 7, 2022.
