Spider-Man Noir Reportedly Getting A Spinoff Film

Were you a fan of Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse? You'll be happy to know that a spinoff centered around the character might be in the works.

According to a source that spoke to We Got This Covered, Sony has picked the character for a solo film. However, details are scarce at the moment. There's no concrete information to dissect yet since it is still "developing," as the website points out.

If this concept comes to pass, it will be the second spinoff to come out of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, the rumored first one being about the Spider-Women.

For those who need a refresher, Spider-Man Noir is a journalist newbie who Ben Urich, a respected yet troubled reporter, takes under his wing. The character hails from the 1930s and was originally created as a darker spin for the wall-crawler. He was part of the Marvel Noir universe, which is inspired by darker pulp fiction stories of beloved characters like Iron Man, Daredevil, Wolverine, Luke Cage, and many more.

Spider-Man Noir is bitten by an illegally imported and highly-venomous spider while he was following a lead for a smuggling ring of ancient spider statues. It didn't take him long to figure out the abilities that were given to him, immediately using them to clean the New York city streets of crime. His primary motivation, however, was getting revenge for the murder of his uncle Ben and his mentor at the hands of Norman Osborn.

The character is surely getting a lot of love in films. In fact, in the highly-anticipated Spider-Man: Far From Home, the character was an inspiration for the Stealth Suit that Tom Holland's Peter Parker wears in the film.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was the character's big screen debut. Even with a lot of Spider-people on screen, Spider-Man Noir didn't fail to get noticed. Before this, he only appeared in animated shows like Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man.

While waiting for updates on the Spider-Man Noir spinoff, fans can look forward to seeing the character again in a Spider-Verse sequel.
