It was recently revealed that first unit production for Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings was delayed because director Destin Daniel Cretton is awaiting his coronavirus test results. He will be self-isolating for a period of two weeks, but the second unit production is still in full swing. That said, this delay will affect the main cast and crew, and lead star Simu Liu has given an update on the movie for the fans.
Taking to Instagram, Liu assured everyone was doing well and to advise the fans to stay safe. The actor says the main unit will take "a couple days off" and some staff members will have "precautionary testing." "I'm super grateful to work for a company that is proactive, cautious and empathetic during this difficult time," Liu wrote. You can check out his post below.
The actor attached a photo with his post, but it isn't a still from his upcoming Marvel movie. Instead, it's from an episode of Nora From Queens, a Comedy Central series that stars Awkwafina. As fans already know, she will star alongside Liu in Shang-Chi as well, but her role is yet to be revealed.
The delay isn't that big of a setback, but hopefully, everyone is okay and that it won't affect the production that much.
Aside from Liu and Awkwafina, the film also stars Tony Chiu-Wai Leung. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is set for release on February 12, 2021.
