Shang-Chi Set Video Reveals First Look at Simu Liu and Awkwafina

Most of the production of TV shows and films have been halted due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, Marvel Studios was able to start principal photography for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings prior to the shutdown. Fans are yet to see Simu Liu's look as the titular character, and Awkwafina's role hasn't been revealed too. But thanks to a set video shared on Twitter, we finally get a first look at the pair.

Taking note that this was filmed in Australia before production shutdown, the set video shared by user @chuckbassf shows Liu and Awkwafina walking down the street and approaching a sort of shady establishment. The uploader describes it as a night club or a "hidden corporation facility" in China. The two then stopped to look at something above them but wasn't seen in the video. You can check it out here.

The footage doesn't reveal a lot, but based on the clip, the two could be allies in the film. It's also important to note that the pair are wearing regular street clothes and not costumes yet. This scene either indicates that Shang-Chi has yet to discover his powers or that he is going undercover with Awkwafina's character. The shady establishment may also hint that the two are walking into a fight, given that the character has faced criminal organizations in the Marvel comics. Regardless of what this video shows, it is safe to assume that Liu and Awkwafina's characters are working with each other.

Details about the movie are scarce so there's not much to decipher yet, but fans can't wait to see Liu in action in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings when it arrives in theaters on May 7, 2021.
