The main cast of Matt Reeves' The Batman is slowly coming together. With the recent news of Andy Serkis confirmed to play Alfred Pennyworth, fans are curious to know about the rest of the cast. Twilight alum Robert Pattinson, who will play the titular role of Bruce Wayne, actually thought of another person who could play the character.
In a recent episode of Variety's Actors on Actors series, Pattinson sat down with Hustlers star Jennifer Lopez where they talked about some of their projects, including the upcoming Batman movie.
Lopez expressed how she thought Pattinson was a good choice for the role, saying, "I think you'll be a great Batman! An awesome batman!" Lopez thinks so because the Caped Crusader is a dark character, which is a role that Pattinson is mostly drawn to.
But Pattinson's response got some people confused, including the singer herself. "You would be as well!" Pattinson replied. To which Lopez answered," Huh? I could be Batman?" Then she seemingly strikes a confident pose saying, "Why not!" Lopez then mentioned that she thinks the character would actually be fun to explore.
Pattinson then went on to talk about Batman's character and his thoughts prior to being cast as the Caped Crusader. He mentioned that the character is a "strange one" and even his agent was confused at first. But he doesn't know why he was "focused on it" so it just keeps coming back to his head.
He also talked about how he always found it interesting that Batman is a "very troubled person," and is "always struggling a little bit" in some parts of the story. He also finds it fascinating that the hero actually doesn't know if "he's that great or not."
The Batman is slated for release on June 25, 2021.
