Along with Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight, The Batman will feature the likes of Jim Gordon, Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. However, one of the bigger mysteries surrounding the film is Peter Sarsgaard's D.A. Gil Colson. He isn't a character from the DC Comics lore, having only appeared in a Batman: The Animated Series episode. Teasing what to expect about his part, the actor himself gives the fans some insight.

"My part is very intense," Sarsgaard told Observer. "On a big show like that my main concern was that I would have to do it 150 times—this intense scene and then that intense scene."

Sarsgaard says he was thinking a lot about how he could "maintain" doing such a part, seeing that his character and the scenes he's in are "at nine out of ten for a lot of it."

His comments are certainly intriguing, giving the fans a better idea of what his role is in the movie. There still isn't much information known about the character, but he is speculated to be similar to that of Harvey Dent, who ended up turning into Two-Face.

In Batman: The Animated Series, Gil Colson was a pawn of Two-Face's attempted takeover of Gotham. It's still unclear whether or not this will factor in the movie, but it will be interesting if Sarsgaard's character takes the villainous route, given that The Batman already has a couple of the Dark Knight's foes to be featured.

The Batman is set for release on October 1, 2021
