The coronavirus pandemic has seen production shutdown in various films and TV shows, including the Cassian Andor Star Wars series which was set to start filming this summer. Add the fact that the Obi-Wan Kenobi series was in the middle of creative difficulties even before the pandemic, it's safe to say that these shows weren't as unfortunate as The Mandalorian, with its second season already set for an October release. Since the Rogue One prequel series is expected to arrive sometime in 2021, with the latter in 2022, a new rumor suggests these shows might face a production overlap to keep on track for its DIsney+ debut.

Making Star Wars claims that there is a chance for the two live-action series to overlap with the schedule given to each show. Not only that, but there will reportedly be some "creative shifts" too.

The outlet also says the studio is calling series showrunner Tony Gilroy as the director "in a general way" but it is uncertain if "that's a large assumption because he's involved in the writing of the series" or if it's even something notable.

MSW's source also points out that the Kenobi series has "creative and sensitive differences still being worked out" at the moment.

Setting a schedule where two series overlap seems to allow principal photography to be finished simultaneously in a cheaper way with the use of the same crew and with the production at the same studio. This actually allows them to kill two birds with one stone should they execute it properly. Even before they make their debut, both shows have already faced various changes. Hopefully, everything gets sorted out eventually for production to go smoothly.
