Potential spoilers for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker below

The folks over at Making Star Wars, a reliable source for production updates on upcoming Star Wars films, revealed via Patreon that Rey will be revealed as the daughter of Han Solo that he had during the time he and Leia were estranged.

Apparently, he had an affair with another woman while Leia went to train with Luke as a Jedi, which didn't work out for reasons that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is apparently going to reveal in a flashback sequence. Ben Solo knew of the affair and started acting out before he was sent to Luke for training. Read all about it here.

The information was passed on by Reddit user SorryNotSpartactus, which you can read all about here. on the plaform , which immediately blew up, garnering more than 1,000 comments. Majority, if not all fans, appear to be strongly against the idea. They believe that this will destroy Han Solo as a character and the fact that he is already dead at this point and will suddenly be roped into the plot isn't only to be "destroyed" is something fans are too thrilled about.

They also believe it isn't fair to Leia knowing that Kylo Ren, her son, might be defeated or killed at the hands of Han's daughter from an affair by the end of it all. Here are some of the comments:

Granted, Making Star Wars notes that this detail is not confirmed yet. After all, there is no concrete information on what that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker flashback featuring young Luke and Leia will be all about.

However, they did point out that Star Wars books have always portrayed Han as someone who doesn't know how to be a dad. Director J.J. Abrams also reportedly planned to introduce the smuggler-turned-Rebellion hero in The Force Awakens as a drinker.

Either way, fans hope that this will not be the case. They hate the idea of a dead legacy character known for his undying loyalty to the people he cares about, is going to be done dirty like this.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to hit the cinemas this December.
