Netflix Reportedly Working on The Witcher Animated Series

Starting with a book based on Andrzej Sapkowski's works which eventually evolved into a game, The Witcher will open new horizons with the upcoming live-action adaptation series on Netflix this Fall. And now, it looks like there's more in store for the fans of the franchise.

And while there hasn't been any definite date for the series' debut, the showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich, might already be working on the second season.

However, what follows between the first and second season isn't what the fans may be expecting at all. According to the NSFW blog, Recapped, Netflix might have an animated series in the works. Their reports suggest that the company has been casting a while back for an animated series "set in the world of The Witcher". The animated series might feature a few side characters and that Netflix is planning to release it sometime between season 1 and season 2.

That being said, Recapped made it clear that they have no idea whether the animated series is still happening. Although it is worth mentioning that the outlet actually got some things right before, including Henry Cavill and Anya Chalotra's casting.

If the rumors are confirmed and that we could actually be getting an animated series for Witcher, CBR thinks it is likely for Hissrich to have a side-character focused series in order to tell parts of the story "through the eyes of ordinary people." This could be enticing for the audience because it would "leave a lot of room for interpretation and mystery."

In the meantime, look out for the upcoming The Witcher series on Netflix. Based on Sapkowski's books but extends to the little moments with the characters to grasp more of what's happening in their lives before and after they encounter each other.

Netflix's The Witcher is scheduled to debut this Fall.
