Even though Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to conclude the entire Skywalker Saga, we would still get to witness the debut of a new character named Jannah, whose skills and backstory we have yet to know about.

Speaking with Total Film (via Games Radar), Naomi Ackie teased her character in the film and shared what journey she's about to embark on in The Rise of Skywalker. "Jannah is a warrior, and she comes into contact with the rest of the group at a point where they need some help," Ackie said. This suggests that she is likely to come across the group of heroes and play a major role in the movie."

Ackie adds, "She is part of the Resistance, and she's spent a long time acquiring skills that might be helpful when it comes to the big conclusion of the film. So she shows up at the right time." There's no doubt Ackie is teasing that she would have a pivotal scene in the movie and could be key to defeating whatever comes their way in Episode IX.

Jannah is known to be efficient at wielding the bow and arrow. She is also able to ride an Orbak, a horse-like creature that was seen briefly in a behind the scenes exclusive video from Vanity Fair.

Ackie also shared how she prepared for the movie. "I was training for seven months, three times a week, at an amazing horse ranch called The Devil's Horsemen," revealing that she had rigorous training for her to be able to ride the Orbak. This could mean that we'll be seeing these creatures when her character Jannah is present in the scene.

She then goes on to say that she is able to do some tricks while riding a horse and how she basically gets paid to learn all of it. Ackie says, "By the end of it, I could canter without any hands. I could play catch with balls while on a horse… It's the best part of the job – you get paid to learn!"

Catch Jannah's debut in The Rise of Skywalker when it premieres on December 20, 2019.
