Mysterious Avengers: Endgame Trailer Voiceover Is A Callback to A Heartbreaking Captain America Moment

After watching the Avengers: Endgame trailer, you may have heard the voice of a woman that you may not recognize instantly.

The part starts at the 30-second mark where she says, "The world has changed. None of us can go back. All we can do is our best and sometimes the best that we can do is to start over."

With so many elements to find in the Avengers: Endgame trailer, this part could be easy to overlook, but this is actually a callback to a sweet yet heartbreaking moment in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. So who is the person behind that voice? It is no other than Peggy Carter.

To refresh your memory, Steve visits an older version of Peggy in a retirement home, where she had to stay after developing a form of dementia. When Steve opens up about being unsure about what service means anymore following a disagreement with Nick Fury, Peggy responds with that line above.

A few seconds after she said those words, she is surprised that Steve was in front of her and that he is alive and have come back to her after so long. Watch the moment below:

What Peggy said couldn't be more fitting for what our heroes find themselves in come Avengers: Endgame. This could be where Steve pulls the strength to do what he has to do in the upcoming film. After all, when has he ever not listen to his "best girl"?

The Avengers: Endgame trailer has reminded fans how important Peggy is to Steve. Many big decisions in his life were made based on her words and guidance. It demonstrates perfectly that when he is lost or confused, he always finds his way back to Peggy and just like that, he would know what to do.

The fact that her voice is in this trailer suggests that whatever Captain America decides to do in order to save his friends and defeat Thanos, it will be true to what Peggy would want him to do.

Avengers: Endgame will hit the theaters April 26.
