Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the entertainment industry has taken quite a hit, causing a delay in production and movies and TV shows already slated for release in the following months. Adding to the list of delayed movies is Sony's Marvel movie Morbius.

The Jared Leto feature was originally set for release on July 31 of this year. However, in a report from Variety, Sony announced that they have delayed the film to seven months. Morbius is now pushed back to March 19, 2021.

Morbius is just among the highly-anticipated movies set for release this Summer. Aside from the comic book film, Sony has also delayed the Ghostbusters sequel, Tom Holland's Uncharted, and Peter Rabbit 2.

Since Morbius will now be released in March next year, it will face quite a competition since it'll open against the new Paranormal Activity movie, as well as Tomb Raider 2; with both movies having a pretty popular franchise.

Sony also delayed the date for an untitled Marvel project set to arrive in October next year. It is speculated to be initially for Venom 2, but it looks like the film's October 2 release date won't be affected. That said, it is possible that the project delayed could be connected to Morbius.

For now, fans would have to wait a little longer for Leto to transform into the iconic character.

Morbius is set for release on March 19, 2021.
