Black Panther Star Michael B. Jordan Is The Father Of A Young Superhero In Netflix's Raising Dion Trailer

A lot of superheroes are being introduced left to right, with outstanding powers, unique stories, and diverse backgrounds. It looks like Netflix is establishing a unique superhero of their own as well with their upcoming series.

Based on Dennis Liu's comic book named Raising Dion, the story revolves around a single mom fighting the odds to keep her son safe. Since the young boy's discovery of his powers, things keep getting out of control as "secrets, conspiracies, and mysteries" surges around the family. Michael B. Jordan (Black Panther) serves as the series' producer as well as the protagonist's father, who mysteriously died in the series.

The synopsis reads:

A widowed mom sets out to solve the mystery surrounding her young son's emerging superpowers while keeping his extraordinary gifts under wraps.

Raising Dion's cast includes Alisha Wainwright as Nicole, a single mother who will be facing challenges on raising her eight-year-old son, Ja'Siah Yong, preceding his husband's death. Together with Nicole is his husband's best friend named Pat, played by Jason Ritter. Both of them struggle to keep Dion's powers hidden since numerous government organizations are keeping track of them. Asking the people around Dion some malicious questions, in the hopes of gaining possession of the young boy.

The cast also includes the likes of Jazmyn Simon as Kat, Nicole's sister. She plays the character of a surgical resident who gets involved in taking care of Dion. With both Nicole and Pat sparing all their efforts, Kat tries her best even though she has a hard time keeping her thoughts to herself as she watches her sister make poor decisions.

Sammi Haney will also be included in the cast as Esperanza, a young girl with a brittle bone disease. Esperanza also tries to look out for Dion, eventually making them best friends.

Raising Dion will be released on Netflix, October 4.
