While Hawkeye: Freefall tells the story of how the hero manages to be at two places at once as Ronin and Hawkeye, the comic series also featured a reference from a completely different universe.

In Freefall #3, of course, Hawkeye is fighting crime, as heroes always do. This time, he's facing off against a ninja, who is quite quick in his moves which is why Clint can't seem to count how many he is actually fighting.

While he is out and about at Central Park, Hawkeye is talking to his friend and tech support guy, Bryce, who seems to be at his home. Mid-conversation, Bryce tells Clint, "And then he killed these three guys on the subway. After that, it got all weird." He then revealed that he watched the film he was talking about through Torrent and that Hawkeye can feel free to watch the copy as well.

However, it looks like the hero isn't quite a fan of his friend's methods of getting movie copies. "No. Only jerks illegally download stuff, Bryce," he said. "Also, it sounds real dumb. I gave you this channel for work calls, okay?"

It seems like Hawkeye isn't fond of the movie's story too. For those who have watched the film, you would know that Bryce was talking about Todd Phillips' Joker. Although it wasn't actually mentioned, the description is pretty much spot on with that pivotal scene in the film. Of course, this was featured in the comics in the spirit of good fun and it isn't trying to criticize the movie.
