Kylo Ren And Rey Almost Have A 'Star-Crossed Love Story' In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will explore how Rey truly feels about Kylo Ren's actions.

Tons of new details about the film just dropped today care of Vanity Fair including a batch of promotional and behind-the-scenes images.

Tidbits about the plot have also been revealed including something about the connection between Kylo Ren and Rey. The site describes their relationship as "the closest thing the new trilogy has to a star-crossed love story on the order of Han and Leia."

The last time we saw them "Force-skype" each other, Rey appears to have severed any future connection with Kylo after trying to bring him back to the light to no avail.

A source close to the production revealed to the abovementioned publication that the Force-connection between the two, first teased in Star Wars: The Last Jedi "will turn out to run even deeper than we thought."

The source explains that how they are both similar and different in that "they're uniquely suited to understand each other, but at the same time they are in every way each other's inverse, down to Kylo's perverse rejection of his family, which is the one thing Rey craves most."

Daisy Ridley revealed to Vanity Fair that Rey just can't understand how Ben chose to throw away everything. "I think there's a part of Rey that's like, dude, you f**ing had it all, you had it all," she said.

The actress then hinted that this will be an important plot in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, revealing that it was "always a big question during filming."

With regards to their Force connection, there are theories suggesting that Snoke wasn't bridging the connection between the two as he claimed in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

There may have been something or someone else pulling the strings. Emperor Palpatine is definitely a candidate now that he is confirmed to return. However, there is also a possibility that Rey and Kylo Ren made it happen without them even knowing.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits the theaters this December.
