Although there isn’t any news confirming this, there may be a new movie trilogy based on the video games, Knights of the Old Republic in the works. And with this new series comes a possible female protagonist.

This new KOTOR rumor came from We Got This Covered, sharing how Lucasfilm is “keen to have a woman of color” for the following series and that it is “apparently important for them that the pics feature a diverse cast’, showing the said woman of color to be featured as the main character.

Another circulating rumor is that this trilogy may be directed by a woman, seeing that Lucasfilms will likely hire a female director.

A YouTuber by the name John Talks reacted to this saying that it only “makes sense” with regards to Robert Iger's (Walt Disney's Chairman and CEO) statement on Twitter back in January.

Iger says in his tweet that “40% of Disney Studios’ upcoming movie slate is being directed by women." He then proceeds to add that they are actually “striving for more."

With this said, it is speculated that this female director will either be Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins or A Wrinkle in Time director Ava Duvernay for it seems that both women are “up for the roles” according to WGTC.

There isn’t much information on what to expect in these Knights of the Old Republic films. However, it is also rumored that Darth Malak will be the antagonist and that this trilogy will be inspired by the Lord of the Rings.

The future of the Star Wars trilogies seems to be a bit of a blur for most of the fans since Rian Johnson hasn’t been going into detail on the sequel he is apparently working on. Add to that, the numerous rumors that are circulating this particular trilogy based on KOTOR.

Receiving divided opinions from fans regarding the likely takeover of women in future Lucasfilms movies, it’s interesting to witness what plans Lucasfilms have for the future.
