Kevin Feige is a huge part of Marvel's success, he has even been promoted as the company's chief creative officer last month. That being said, Feige will also have his hand at the Star Wars franchise. While it would seem that Lucasfilm was the one who approached Feige to make a movie for the franchise, it turns out to be the complete opposite.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy talked about the upcoming movie The Rise of Skywalker, as well as the franchise's future. The topic regarding Feige being included "into the mix" was brought up, and the outlet asked Kennedy on how they decided for him to make a Star Wars project.

"Kevin has been a huge fan of Star Wars, and he's made that pretty clear," Kennedy started. She thinks when Feige made some Spider-Man movies, he went into a realization that Feige could "step in and out of what he's doing specifically with just Marvel."

She then revealed that Feige was the one who talked to the studio, "You know, ‘Is there any chance I could step in and do one of the Star Wars movies?'" Kennedy thought that it was actually a "pretty cool idea". The Lucasfilm president said they are just beginning to talk about what and when that movie might be. However, she claims that "it's a ways off."

For now, Kennedy admits that she is focused on J.J. Abrams' The Rise of Skywalker, and isn't entirely certain on what the future holds for Lucasfilm.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20.
