Before Chris Pratt landed the role of Star-Lord in Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn was considering a different actor who was running to play the character at the time. Zachary Levi, who played the titular role in Shazam!. Reports on the casting came out years ago, and Gunn just recently confirmed the news.

During a recent Q&A session on Gunn's Instagram account, the director was asked whether or not Levi was actually considered for the role of Star-Lord. To which Gunn replied, "Yes. And he was amazing." He recalled that when Shazam! Producer Peter Safran asked Gunn on who he thinks would be a good fit for the role, he immediately suggested Levi. He claims Safran and some folks at DC told him "that's what got the ball rolling." However, he recognized and credits Levi for his "immense talent."

Levi then responded on his Instagram Story as well. He says what Gunn did change his life and it meant "the absolute world." He also expressed his hopes to work with the director on a project soon. Gunn responded to Levi too; he wrote, "Me as well, my friend!" You can check out their exchange below.
