There are growing concerns over the coronavirus pandemic which has caused a halt in almost everything done in day-to-day life. However, in these unfortunate times, some people still try to take advantage of the situation. One such person is a small-time actor, who allegedly made an appearance on Iron Man 2.
Keith Lawrence Middlebrook was recently arrested by the FBI on a federal fraud charge. His IMDB page shows he played a small part in the Marvel film as an Expo Cop, he also played the role of Agent Adams in Iron Man 3.
He was allegedly soliciting investment for a company that claims to put the investment to use by marketing pills for a coronavirus cure. The arrest came after a criminal complaint was filed in the US District Court on one count of attempted wire fraud. If guilty, this is a felony that he’ll serve for 20 years.
Middlebrook was arrested during a meeting where he delivered pills to an undercover agent posing as an investor. A witness also claimed that Middlebrook said he has developed a cure and even an LA patient “got up and walked out 51 hours” after the injection.
The report also mentioned that Middlebrook shared a video on his Instagram account, which appears to have been already deleted, where he showed viewers a syringe filled with clear liquid, claiming to have made a cure. You can read the full report here.
It’s unfortunate that there are people who would take advantage of the situation with scams like these, hopefully, if proven guilty, this will all be sorted out.
The FBI’s Major Frauds section is still investigating the case.
