Following his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, fans were surprised to learn that actor Alan Tudyk will make his return as K-2SO in a prequel series of the film. And as it turns out, it looks like the actor is even excited to provide the droid’s voice once again.
Tudyk recently spoke in an interview during the Television Critics Association event (via Slash Film) where he revealed why he actually wanted to return. The outlet points out that he is yet to know when he’ll go back to filming, but he knows why it would be an easy choice.
“Playing with Cassian, playing with Diego Luna and being in the world of Star Wars again,” he said. “Especially after seeing The Mandalorian and seeing what they can do with a series, how much fun it is to just go into smaller stories and tell stories that way." Most fans would definitely agree with the actor’s comments, especially with the success that the Disney+ series has achieved so far.
Not only did Tudyk provide K-2SO’s voice, but he also wore a motion-capture suit on set. However, he refused to have a body double, despite considering the role’s physicality for the show. This is because he admits that it means a lot to him and that it’s something that the actor enjoys doing. After all, Tudyk wouldn’t even have to relearn everything about wearing the suit. “By the time I was done, I never took ‘em off,” he said. “I used to put them on, take them off, put them on, take them off throughout the day.”
K-2SO became a fan-favorite character in the film, and with Tudyk’s return in the series, fans definitely can't wait for the show's release.
The Rogue One prequel series is yet to have received a release date, but in the meantime, fans could check out the first season of The Mandalorian on Disney+.
