Over two years since Justice League's theatrical debut, Zack Snyder's original version will finally get released on HBO Max. While the Snyder Cut campaign had notable names from the franchise lending a helping hand, Superman actor Henry Cavill hasn't said much in the duration of the campaign before the official announcement was made. However, the actor has broken his silence in a recent interview with Variety.

Asked whether he was surprised with the news about Zack Snyder's Justice League getting released, Cavill admitted that he wasn't, noting that the rise of streaming services played a part in the release of the Snyder Cut. "I don't know if I'm surprised," he said. "With everything that has happened this year, with the lockdown and cinemas having to close and streaming services now being how we are getting our entertainment, it's not really a surprise."

"I think it's one of those things where it's an opportunity," the actor added. "And I think it's great that Zack has an opportunity to finally release his vision of [Justice League] and I think that's really important for a storyteller and a filmmaker."

Cavill says when that doesn't happen for a filmmaker, it's "always a sad occasion." Fortunately, Snyder has the opportunity to show his original vision for the film, with the actor saying that he's "excited" to see it come to fruition.

While the rise of streaming services played a big part in the Snyder Cut release, there's no doubt that the supporters and fans who have campaigned over the years, and the persistence and enthusiasm of Snyder and the people involved in the project are some of the elements that contributed toward the release of Snyder's Justice League.

Zack Snyder's Justice League arrives on HBO Max in early 2021.
