Green Arrow and the Canaries Official Synopsis Reveals Mia Smoak's Name Change

The penultimate episode of Arrow will serve as the backdoor pilot for the spinoff titled Green Arrow and the Canaries. Katherine McNamara will be starring as the daughter of Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak, and it seems like the character will have a slight name change.

The CW Network recently released the official synopsis for the spinoff episode. Green Arrow and the Canaries is set in the year 2040 at Star City. Now addressed as Mia Queen, she seems to be living a good life and already has everything "she could have ever wanted." Not until Laurel and Dinah show up unannounced.

In the Arrow spinoff, the Canaries will be tracking a kidnapping victim that has direct ties to Mia, hence asking her for help. You can check out the full synopsis below.

STAR CITY 2040 – It's the year 2040 in Star City and Mia Queen (Katherine McNamara) has everything she could have ever wanted. However, when Laurel (Katie Cassidy) and Dinah (Juliana Harkavy) suddenly show up in her life again, things take a shocking turn and her perfect world is upended. Laurel and Dinah are tracking a kidnapping victim with direct ties to Mia and they need her help. Knowing it will change everything, Mia can't help but be a hero and she, Laurel and Dinah suit up once again to save the city. Tara Miele directed the episode written by Beth Schwartz & Marc Guggenheim & Jill Blankenship & Oscar Balderrama.

The synopsis for the spinoff is definitely intriguing since it suggests that Mia is already living a good life, which got fans curious as to what the events after Crisis would result to. Regardless, it seems like the heroes will find a solution to defeat Anti-Monitor that'll eventually led to her state in the Arrow spinoff.

Aside from Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz and executive producer Marc Guggenheim, Jill Blankenship and Oscar Balderrama also penned this episode. Crisis on Infinite Earths will continue on Tuesday, Jan. 14 with Arrow at 8 p.m., followed by DC's Legends of Tomorrow at 9 p.m. Green Arrow and the Canaries will air on Jan. 21.
