There has been a great backlash on Game of Thrones’ eighth season, even leading to fans marking at as the worst season of them all. And despite the negative reviews, GoT took home Emmy’s Best Drama Series of 2019.
Nominated actress Carice van Houten, who plays Melisandre, most notably known as The Red Witch, shares her thoughts on the last season. As much as fans hated the last season, the actress had something positive to say about it.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actress reveals that she loved the fact that “the whole thrown was blown away.” She mentioned that she loved the randomness of their discussions on who’s going to be king. Thinking that the “silliness of it” was actually “very smart.”
“This is what life is. Some dumbo can become president,” she said. “That’s the world we live in. We just sort of go, ‘Uh, that guy.’” Though Carice revealed that she really liked it, how it was smart that the show was “just sort of silly.”
Carice’s statement was very intriguing and fans might acknowledge this as well. Because, in some way, a “dumbo” becoming president could be true. To note, this was a really shocking statement coming from her. That is to say, it’s different for everybody of course; those are what Carice could have learned in the process of filming the show.
While the other Game of Thrones actors are defending the ending ever since it aired, Carice always had a way of staying positive; even acknowledging the story’s silliness despite being included in the show.
As of now, reports say that a new Game of Thrones prequel might be in the works. George R.R. Martin and Ryan Condal will be working together on a story that will follow the downfall of the House Targaryen. Showing their journey to survival up to the events of fighting for the throne.
