Game of Thrones Season 8 has been rather divisive. More than one million people have already signed an online petition that demands a remake of the entire final season with "competent writers." But if it were up to Daenerys star Emilia Clarke, she will change only one thing about the show's final run.
Speaking to The New Yorker, the actress said it would have been better if her character had more interactions between Dany, Missandei, and Cersei as well as between the latter two and Grey Worm to be able to flesh out the dynamics among them.
"I feel like there was... The genocide was there. That was always going to happen. And I just think more dissection and those beautifully written scenes that the boys have between characters—that we are more than happy to contently sit there and watch ten minutes of two people talking, because it's beautiful," the actress explained.
"I just wanted to see a bit more of that. But I'm in no position to critique the geniuses that have written eight seasons' worth of wonderful stuff," she went on to say.
Even though a lot of fans are under the impression that she is not happy with the direction showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss chose to take in Game of Thrones Season 8, Clarke seems to be on board with the sendoff for her character.
The actress has been nothing but gracious and positive through it all even in the midst of a backlash. A lot of fans think that the character's last-minute heel turn came out of nowhere though. They also weren't crazy about how the story of the Mother of Dragons ultimately ended.
With regards to the upcoming Game of Thrones prequels, Clarke admitted that she thinks the franchise should get the time to breathe.
"I can't speak because I don't know the script. But I would just like a bit more time between Game of Thrones being cold in the ground before something else comes along. Because isn't everyone already up to their eyeballs with Game of Thrones?" she responded.
