Ever since Rey and Kylo Ren were introduced in The Force Awakens, the pair has been the subject of multiple fan theories with speculations of a budding romance. Star Wars fans, who dubbed this relationship as "Reylo" are still in the hopes to see the two go even further in The Rise of Skywalker. And it looks like they're in for a treat!
A fan took to Twitter to share and translate some parts of Ridley's interview with Esquire Mexico and Latin America for their December issue. Ridley details the connection between her character and Adam Driver's, and claims that the "intensity continues" between both Rey and Kylo Ren.
Having spent six days of filming their epic lightsaber battle, the actress says the "chemistry between the characters is infectious." Ridley also claims that various emotions "pass between" both Kylo and Ren. That being said, she pointed out that Star Wars fans shouldn't miss "any of that."
In another interview, director J.J. Abrams mentioned that both characters are connected in a "profound way." Kylo and Rey are said to be "drawn to each other." At the same time, they are "curious" yet "knowledgeable about each other" too.
While Ridley's comment didn't necessarily confirm that the two will be developing a romantic relationship in Episode IX, Reylo fans can still hope to see this through, especially since the "intensity" will grow even more between them in the upcoming movie. However, since Rey and Kylo are fighting on opposite sides, we couldn't rule out the fact that this connection could be something else other than romance.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20.
