The comic book retailers have taken quite a hit from the coronavirus pandemic causing low sales with employees whose source of income is only from that, Fortunately, DC has given a huge help to support these comic book retailers by donating $250,000.
WarnerMedia recently shared the news about their donation to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation. "In response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis and its impact on the comic book direct market," the announcement reads. "DC is donating $250,000 to the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC) to provide support for comic book retailers and their employees during this time of hardship and beyond."
Not only that, DC's chief creative officer and publisher, Jim Lee, will also be auctioning 60 original sketches. The proceeds from the auction will then be donated to support BINC in their efforts to help the community. The sketches are various DC characters. One character a day will be auctioned for the next two months, no character version will actually be repeated.
BINC is a nonprofit dedicated to assisting booksellers, retailers, and their employees in times of need. They have been providing assistance from funeral costs to medical bills. However, due to the pandemic, the requests have gone up, since most retail stores have no choice but to close at the moment.
