Having received the award of Male Movie Star of 2019 at the People's Choice Awards earlier this month, the actor is commended for his performance yet again with Collider's list of the Best Performances of the 2010s.

It's no secret that Robert Downey Jr.'s performance as Iron Man has sent thousands of Marvel fans on a rollercoaster of emotions. From his funniest quirks from the very first Iron Man movie to his heart-wrenching scenes in Avengers: Endgame, there's no doubt how much of an impact he has made to many people.

The outlet claims the modern movie landscape for comic book movies wouldn't look the same without Downey playing Tony Stark and "his chrome-domed alter-ego Iron Man." The actor is "essentially the rock holding up history's biggest franchise," Collider's Vinnie Mancuso wrote.

For 12 years, Downey played his role in numerous movies, either as the lead or is somewhat a part of the story. And with every film, he has added "every quirk and quip and layer of doubt."

Having the actor be included in the list isn't a surprise. Downey playing the part of Iron Man is held in high regard because he has literally been a part of thousands of fans' lives who look up to him and see him as an inspiration, a hero, and a role model.

As for Iron Man's appearance in future Marvel projects, for now, there are no reports of the actor reprising his role yet. Earlier this month, Jeff Goldblum revealed that Downey recorded for a part in the animated series What If…? But this has yet to be confirmed.

Downey will star in the film Dolittle, which is his first movie post-Endgame. The film is scheduled for release on January 17, 2020.
