Chewbacca Is Naked In New Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Image

A truckload of images from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker has arrived and there's a particularly interesting one of Chewbacca.

In one of the images from the film released by Vanity Fair, we were treated with a photo of the new Millennium Falcon crew. Here, we see Lando Calrissian in the pilot's seat while Poe Dameron appears to serve as his co-pilot with BB-8 behind him. We also see Chewbacca posing for the camera just behind Lando.

Making Star Wars points out that how he looks "naked" due to the absence of his bandolier, the sash-like item that he's been wearing around his left shoulder since forever. This thing is where ammunitions and grenades are kept for instant access during battle.

The only time in the films that he doesn't wear it is in Solo: A Star Wars Story, during the scene where he meets Han Solo for the first time. Chewie doesn't seem to be carrying his bowcaster either although that is more understandable considering he is inside the ship. Check out the image below.

Making Star Wars says that this likely has something to do with C-3PO going full Rambo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. There have been a lot of rumors going around about the droid joining the front lines this time around, a far cry from the C-3PO we knew before. His Rambo look was somehow confirmed in a leaked poster for the film an if this new image is anything to go by, C-3PO could end up using Chewbacca's gear.

In one behind-the-scenes image, however, we see Chewie wielding his weapon and bandolier in the new desert planet featured in the trailer, which suggests that he will be part of the action, whatever it is that's going down there. We also see C-3PO without any gear in the same image.

The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker feature on Vanity Fair also gave us a glimpse of Luke Skywalker's return, the Knights of Ren, the new characters played by Keri Russell and Naomi Ackie (the latter seen on a majestic horse next to Finn), and an epic duel between Rey and Kylo Ren.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is set to hit the theaters this December.
