Although recent reports suggest that Disney is “adamant” on not moving the release date for Black Widow, the Scarlett Johansson feature is now officially delayed.
By now, everyone knows why the film is delayed - because of the coronavirus. The highly-anticipated Marvel film was set to hit theaters on the first day of May, but now, ComicBook.com says it will be moved, but its new release date is uncertain for now.
The growing pandemic has resulted in other films getting delayed as well, along with productions for both features and television shows getting halted too. Black Widow is now delayed just like the Fast & Furious 9, No Time to Die, and A Quiet Place II.
This will be a huge setback for Marvel Studios and might cause an impact on the other projects slated for release following Black Widow. Marvel is known to follow intricate release schedules, with The Eternals scheduled to hit theaters in November while Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is slated for February 2021.
Production for Marvel Disney+ shows are delayed too and it’s uncertain as to what will happen for the upcoming films as well.
That said, Black Widow getting delayed isn’t entirely a surprise given the situation over coronavirus concerns. In the meantime, fans need to be extremely careful and to stay safe amidst the pandemic.
