DC fans were divided over Jared Leto's version of the Joker and his portrayal of the character in Suicide Squad got quite a bit of backlash. However, these fans weren't the only ones who didn't enjoy Leto's Clown Prince of Crime.

A fan asked Birds of Prey comics writer Gail Simone on Twitter about her thoughts on Leto's version of Joker, to which she responded candidly. "I don't love it," she wrote. "It's okay." You can check out their exchange below.

Joker had several tattoos on Suicide Squad and he even has a set of grills on. Leto's version wasn't that well-received, with his looks likely being one of the reasons. Some people weren't also fond of Leto's acting, but of course, this is just personal preference.

Simone's comic book was the inspiration for the Birds of Prey film, directed by Cathy Yan. The Joker made an appearance on the film in parts where Harley Quinn would look back on her memories with him. That said, it wasn't played by Leto himself and instead, the character's face wasn't shown in the movie.

As for Leto's return as the Clown Prince of Crime, the chances of it are quite slim. Although The Suicide Squad director James Gunn didn't specifically say that Joker will be in his film, he did point out that it wouldn't be strange if the character isn't in it.
