The future of its theatrical releases certainly looks promising, but DC's upcoming animated flicks are nothing short of exciting!

IGN recently confirmed that a two-part Batman: The Long Halloween animated film is in the works. The feature will follow the fan-favorite 13-issue comic of the same name, telling a story during Bruce Wayne's earlier years as Batman.

There's no word on the voice cast just yet, but since The Long Halloween is regarded as one of the best Batman comic runs, fans ought to look forward to an epic movie. The first part of the animated film will arrive in the summer of 2021, to be followed by Part 2 later in the fall.

Released in 1996 from writer Jeph Loeb with illustrations by Tim Sale, The Long Halloween follows the Dark Knight as he tracks down a serial killer who commits murders on holidays each month. The story takes place not long after Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli's Batman: Year One.

Aside from The Long Halloween film adaptation, the other animated projects announced at DC FanDome are the Batman: Soul of the Dragon, set in the 1970s to be executive produced by Bruce Timm as well as Justice Society: World War II, set for release in spring of 2021.

As mentioned, the first part of Batman: The Long Halloween animated movie arrives in theaters in summer 2021 while Part 2 gets released in the fall of the same year.
