Josh Brolin On Why Fans Should Be Psyched About Avengers: Infinity War

Josh Brolin's Thanos has been in the sidelines since 2012's The Avengers, but his major involvement in the events in the Marvel Cinematic Universe thus far will be highlighted once Avengers: Infinity War kicks off. The Mad Titan has only been seen lounging in his giant floating chair, leaving the search for the six Infinity Stones to his minions, but with Phase Three having kicked off with Captain America: Civil War, Thanos will be taking matters into his own hands and will finallyl be "delivering the goods."

Back in February, Brolin shared in an interview how he's known "very little" about Thanos' involvement in everything that's been unfolding in the MCU. Well, the 48-year-old actor now knows everything about how his character will deliver fans' expectations of the Marvel villain.

He told Moviefone in an interview:

These Avengers stories all come down to this conclusion, and that's our involvement. Basically, my character against everybody. And it's really fun what they've chosen to do with the story.
I think it's brilliant, personally. I was blown away, and had goose pimples pretty much 50% of the time that I was listening to what was going on, and pretty amazed that I'm going to be involved in it. So it's a big thing that's coming up.

Though the MCU has had pretty intimidating villains during Phase One and Two, Thanos has been built up to be the most menacing of all. Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo has previously explained how they're planning to make the villain more menacing. Even Infinity War writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely have prepared for the challenge of the Marvel villain issue by explaining last month that they will make Thanos a strong villain character by keeping him faithful to the comics.

That said, it's obvious from his goal to collect the six Infinity Stones that Thanos will be the Avengers' most formidable opponent. At this point, it's unclear whether he will be able to collect them one by one or all at once in Avengers: Infinity War. However, it's inevitable that he will get them all eventually for his Infinity Gauntlet. When that happens, the villain will be practically unstoppable, and it will take all heroes in the MCU to defeat him. In Brolin's words, we'll all be "blown away" when that final battle takes place.

Thanos' invincible form will be unleashed when Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 hits theaters on May 4, 2018. Meanwhile, Part 2 is slated for release on May 3, 2019.
