Jonathan Frakes Reveals Major Star Trek: Discovery Spoiler, Says Pilot Episode is Amazing

Over the weekend, several stars from Star Trek: The Next Generation reunited in a panel of the Star Trek-centric Continuing Voyage Tour convention in Chicago. They include Marina Sirtis, Denise Crosby, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, Brent Spiner, and Jonathan Frakes.

At the panel, Frakes, a Star Trek: Discovery director, revealed a story element that one of the episodes will feature. If you don't want to know, here's a spoiler warning:

MAJOR SPOILER FROM STAR TREK: DISCOVERY AHEAD.

The former Commander Riker revealed that a Discovery episode will explore the Mirror Universe. Check out the tweets from one of the fans that were confirmed by Trek Movie:

Frakes also said that the pilot episode for the upcoming CBS show will be "amazing":

This will be the fourth Star Trek series to feature the Mirror Universe, after the Original series, Deep Space Nine, and Enterprise.

Here's a breakdown of the Mirror Universe from Trek Movie:

It's exciting to know that the new characters will explore the Mirror Universe, but since Discovery actually takes place before the events of the original series, they will actually be the first ones from Star Fleet Federation to explore it.

Synopsis:

Set 10 years prior to the five-year mission of the Enterprise in Star Trek: The Original Series, Star Trek: Discovery follows the adventures of Starfleet on their missions to discover new worlds and new lifeforms, and one Starfleet officer who must learn that to truly understand all things alien, you must first understand yourself. The series will feature a new ship, new characters, and new missions while embracing the same ideology and hope for the future that inspired a generation of dreamers and doers.

Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere on CBS on September 24.
