John Krasinski Recalls Captain America Screen Test and Blames Chris Hemsworth For Not Getting The Role

Right before Captain America: The First Avenger was released in 2011, John Krasinksi was incredibly close to becming Marvel Studio's Captain America. I thought The Office star has what it takes to pull it off, but Chris Evans ultimately got the role.

Kransiski hasn't shared his experience on auditioning for the role, but when Conan O'Brien asked him about it, he said that it was the sight of Chris Hemsworth's body that made him quit the audition. He told the audience about him trying no the suit and getting to screen test, and the moment he realized it was not meant to be:

I was putting on the suit just watching it, and like, this is so amazing. All of a sudden Chris Hemsworth walked by as Thor and went ‘hey mate', and I went ‘I'm good. This is stupid, I shouldn't—It's okay, I'm not going to be Captain America, it's fine.'

Even if Krasinski meant to say it jokingly, I could see why he has the right to be concerned. Not a lot of people in the world wouldn't be intimidated by the sight of Chris Hemsworth's physique. He was just not meant to play Cap, but at least fans got this:
