John Boyega Teases New Project with Attack the Block Director

Before he played Finn in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, sci-fi fans knew John Boyega as the lead of the 2011 alien invasion movie Attack the Block. Now, in a recent tweet, Boyega has teased he might be working on something new with Attack the Block director Joe Cornish. You can see the tweet below:

Boyega and Cornish could be working on any sort of project, but an Attack the Block sequel is a strong possibility. Way back in 2011, Cornish mentionedthe possibility of Attack the Block sequels and spinoffs to IFC.

He said John Boyega kept coming up with "amazing ideas" for a sequel, going on to say that Boyega had an "image of a bigger alien attack on London, as if the attack we saw in Attack the Block was just the [first] wave and there's another wave of bigger creatures. And he described to me this image of Moses [played by Boyega] leading a whole army of hood kids across the Thames, next to the houses of Parliament. He had an image of Moses on a police horse."

Cornish also said that he'd been approached for an American remake of the movie and a TV series spin-off, so that's another possibility. Boyega has serious star power now thanks to his role in The Force Awakens, so if he's involved a sequel has the potential to sell better than the first movie. Of course, Boyega and Cornish could also be working on a totally original project.

John Boyega is definitely keeping himself busy with plenty of projects. He's set to appear in the upcoming Watership Down TV miniseries, a movie called The Circle, the stage play Woyzek, Kathryn Bigelow's film about the Detroit riots and Pacific Rim 2. It's amazing he can keep up the pace!

What do you hope John Boyega's new project will be? I loved Attack the Block, so a sequel would be great. On the other hand, an original project could be really cool too- both Boyega and Cornish are talented enough that they could pull off a lot of things.
