Star Wars Director J.J. Abrams Reacts To Negative Fan Reactions on Episode IX

When the first-ever Star Wars movie was introduced to the world, the franchise attracted millions of fans around the galaxy. The first and second trilogy easily cemented their names as two of the best sci-fi movie series of all time.

But as the years go by, fans' expectations continue to rise, making it hard for directors and actors to satisfy their standards—particularly in the upcoming movie, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

An exclusive interview from MarvelousTV revealed director J.J. Abrams' feelings towards the fans' reactions when Disney released the trailer. As expected, there were rabid fans who keep on attacking the actors and the movie plot. And sadly, some of them have gone too far and reached the attention of the director.

When asked about how he deals with these negative responses from fans, Abrams answered, "You have to understand that they've got their opinions and, of course, you have to value them. You're never going to please everyone, you have to know that going in, and just do the best you can. I'm nothing but thankful as someone who considers myself a fan. I can't wait for them to see the film."

Abrams also confirmed that the conclusion to the saga is not far from the original story started by The Force Awakens. "Episode VIII didn't really derail anything that we were thinking about," Abrams added.

Regardless of these negative responses, loyal fans like me would surely love to see the character dynamics and the adventure-centered plot of the movie. This ending is one for the ages, and it's not supposed to be missed.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will premiere on December 18, 2019.
