Jeremy Renner Could Be Joining Spawn Reboot As Human Lead

It looks like Marvel Studios' Hawkeye star Jeremey Renner just might be joining Todd McFarlane's upcoming Spawn reboot.

According to a report by That Hashtag Show, though they can't really confirm whether or not the deal has been closed, Renner has recently been in talks to join the cast of Spawn. If Renner were to join the highly anticipated comic book movie, he would take the role as the film's human lead, detective Twitch Williams.

For those who aren't familiar with the Spawn comics, Twitch is part of a detective team that investigates Spawn during his during his early battles with thugs and street gangs. Born as Albert Francis "Al" Simmons, Spawn is originally a Force Recon Marin who finds himself betrayed and killed by his partner. After making a deal with the evil entity Malebolgia in Hell, Simmons gets sent back to the human world as Hellspawn.

Though Twitch comes second to Spawn in the comics, comic book creator and director Todd Mcfarlane previously said that he'd be telling the story of the film in the eyes of Twitch Williams, making the detective the lead character of the film. Renner who's had a lot of experience working on both action and comic book movies would be the perfect fit for the role. Not only would the Marvel star be able to fall into the role with ease, but he'd also be able to draw in more moviegoers to cinemas.

Spawn doesn't have a release date yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
