Jenna Coleman May Be Exiting Doctor Who After Series 9

Doctor Who star Jenna Coleman, AKA companion Clara Oswald, will reportedly leave BBC's series after Series 9.

Coleman has already shot her final scenes as Clara and will leave the series prior to this year's Doctor Who Christmas Special, the The Daily Mirror reports

Coleman reportedly "quit" the series after landing the lead role in ITV's upcoming drama about Queen Victoria. Neither ITV nor BBC have commented on the rumor.

Last year, we've heard the rumor that Coleman considered leaving the show after Series 8, with some reports suggesting she was still considering well into the series airing. The BBC and showrunners decided to let that rumor hang to keep Clara's fate in the 2014 Christmas special a mystery. It was only after that episode's conclusion, with a reconciliation between Clara and the Doctor, that Coleman was officially announced to return in Series 9.

Doctor Who Series 9 premieres September 19 on The BBC.
