Jared Leto Claims His Joker Role Almost Got Him Typecast

Jared Leto's performance as The Joker in Suicide Squad was divisive, to say the least, but it did leave an impression. It left such an impression that Leto told Conan he was almost typecast for the "crazy" villain role. Fans of the 30 Seconds To Mars singer know he likes unique roles, as his casting in Blade Runner 2049 shows, but him being typecast in these Joker-like roles would have been a detriment to the actor's abilities.

Leto claims that he was offered a number of villainous roles for a whole week. "I think it was like Charles Manson and, you know, the guy from Waco--you know, basically the most evil of the evil," said the actor. He then joked that he was going to make a box set of films where he plays as these evil men, which would have been fun to see.

Rumor has it that Leto is going to play Joker for more DCEU movies such as Suicide Squad 2, Gotham City Sirens, and the rumored Joker and Harley Quinn film. Leto says he is willing to play as the character again and even complimented Gavin O'Connor, the rumored director of Suicide Squad 2. The only time he won't be playing the character will be during animated roles and the rumored Martin Scorsese produced Joker origin film.

While we won't be seeing Joker in a film anytime soon, fans can see his archnemesis Batman in Justice League next month.
