Guardians of the Galaxy was loved by everyone when the movie came out in 2014, and some people have been frequently comparing it to pop-culture giant, Star Wars. Apparently, director James Gunn is also in on this, and he's been tossing around the idea of making a Holiday Special for the Guardians as well.
Gunn has always been active on social media, and he reveals that he's actually been having talks with Marvel head Kevin Feige about the project. Here's the post:
He also compares the project to the 1978 disaster that was the Star Wars Holiday Special. Though widely referred to as terrible today, Gunn has admitted that he loved it when he was a kid.
A holiday special would be absolutely perfect for the Guardians! Since Peter Quill is from Earth, the special could focus on him trying to introduce it to the rest of his gang — plus, there're themes of family or whatever.
You don't have to wait till Christmas to see Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 which comes out May 5.
