James Gunn Wanted David Bowie To Cameo With Sylvester Stalone In GOTG 2

Though Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn had originally wanted to have David Bowie pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the music legend had passed away before he got the chance to appear in the filmmaker's new space adventure.

Earlier this month, Gunn told fans that he had originally wanted Bowie to appear in the film as one of Yondu's original crew. Now, in a new Facebook Live session to help promote the home release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the Marvel director decides to open up and explain his idea for Bowie's cameo.

"I did talk to David Bowie's people about him being in a cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy. It would have been as one of the Ravagers, along with Michelle Yeoh and Ving Rhames and Sylvester Stallone and Michael Rosenbaum, but, unfortunately, David Bowie passed away."

It would have definitely been interesting to see Bowie play alongside Sylvester Stallone in the cosmic superhero movie – after all, the music legend was always fond of space. Though Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 didn't feature any Bowie song in its soundtrack, the original film had Bowie's "Moonage Daydream."

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now available on Blu-Ray, Digital and 4K UHD.
