James Gunn Thinks Tom Holland is the Best Spider-Man on the Big Screen

When the second trailer of Captain America: Civil War made its debut yesterday, it received mixed fan reaction particularly for Spider-Man's much-anticipated cameo right at the very end.

It's the first time Tom Holland's Spider-Man/Peter Parker was shown in anything that Civil War's marketing team has ever released. Some fans raved about his costume, while others weren't so satisfied and kept comparing the current web slinger's outfit to the past two Spider-Man films. It also begs the question of whether the actor will give justice to Peter Parker in a live-action film.

Well, one person who's particularly convinced is Guardians of the Galaxy director, James Gunn. He's also one of the people who raved about Civil War, and while he was doing so on Twitter, one follower asked his opinion on Holland's Spider-Man.

Asked if Holland will be able to live up to Toby Maguire and Andrew Garfield's versions, Gunn said that Holland is the best.

Take a look at his response:

The statement isn't really surprising as the director has also said during a Facebook AMA in December last year that after seeing Civil War, he thinks it's "one of the best Marvel movies ever." He also called Holland's performance in the film "off the charts awesome."

I have my doubts about Holland, but considering the fact that James Gunn himself confirmed the 19-year-old actor's stellar performance, I'm not expecting any less.

In any case, only time will tell whether we can take the director for his word.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters on May 6.
