James Gunn Plans To Have More Of The Old School Guardians Of The Galaxy Line-Up

James Gunn had Sylvester Stallone pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 as one of the Marvel Comics original Guardians, Starhawk, and ever since then fans have been wondering whether the Marvel director has bigger things in mind for the "One Who Knows."

Now, in a new Facebook question and answer session, James Gunn confirms that fans are going to see more of the old school Guardians of the Galaxy in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Commemorating the Guardian's first appearance in the comics forty-eight years ago, Gunn decided to share a photo of the first Guardians of the Galaxy comic.

"48 years ago today the Guardians of the Galaxy were born! Thanks to the writing talents of Arnold Drake and the art of Gene Colan (inks by Mike Esposito), they first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes #18. Who knew how I'd be swept up in their wake all those years later?" Gunn wrote on his post. "The cover features Vance Astro (not in the movies), Charlie-27 (played by Ving Rhames in Vol. 2), Martinex (played by Michael Rosenbaum in Vol. 2), and Yondu Udonta (played by Michael Rooker in Vols. 1 & 2)."

Commenting on the post, a fan questioned whether Gunn would be featuring more of the original team in future Marvel films, and this was the director's reply.

It's exciting to think about what Gunn's going to bring in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 and the brimming Marvel Cosmic Universe.
