James Gunn Admits The Biggest Mistake in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is now the third highest-grossing film of 2017, and it's still dominating the box office even though it's not as deemed as "fresh" as the first one. Nonetheless, the sequel is another success for Marvel, but writer/director James Gunn admits that there is one continuity error in his latest film.

Gunn recently discussed spoilers and other details from Vol. 2 during a recent Facebook Q&A, and Gunn pointed out Stan Lee's cameo in the film. In the scene, Lee said that he was a FedEx man --a reference to his cameo in Captain America: Civil War. Although the issue seems minor, Gunn pointed out that his film takes place before Civil War, so Lee should have not experienced that yet. Gunn explains:

"One thing I found very funny and interesting is the fact that people thought Stan Lee is a Watcher and that all of these cameos are part of him being a Watcher. So, Stan Lee as---probably---a guy who is working for the Watchers was something that I thought was fun for the MCU. And yes, I know I made a mistake. I'll own up to my mistake because
Guardians of the Galaxy 2
theoretically happens in 2014 which is before
Infinity War
. And Stan Lee in the movie says, 'That time I was the Fed Ex guy,' which is what he is in
Civil War
. I screwed up; I wasn't thinking, But I'm going to say that probably Stan Lee used the guise of a Fed Ex guy more than one time."

Since he's considered a Watcher, doesn't he have the ability to travel through time? It's possible that the character took the role as a FedEx guy before his disguise in Civil War. In the Marvel Universe, you can easily bend the logic and Gunn's mistake is so minor that I don't think fans would take the time to bash it. What do you think?
