Wizards of the Coast's free-to-play digital collectible card game Magic: The GatheringArena is getting a lot of praise from players and more of them are switching from Magic Online to the new game but it's still missing one format that many players want: Modern. Players have been wondering when they will add the eternal format to Arena, and now, Wizards of the Coast director of esports, Bear Schmiedicker, responded to that possibility.

During a recent interview with Shack News, Bear was asked if the Modern format will be implemented in Magic Arena, Bear said, "No, not at the moment, it will take a very long time to have that format available." You can check out the clip of the interview below:

That answer isn't surprising; it's the same thing Wizards of the Coast said every single time they were asked before. Magic Arena players may have to wait several years before the Modern format becomes available but at least the answer is a hard "No". It's just a matter of time before we see the format added to Arena. Given the format's massive card pool, it would take years to implement and program that many cards into Arena, so until then, players will have to rely on Magic Online to play Modern online.
