Watch: Magic: The Gathering Pro Shahar Shenhar Draws Two Cards For His Turn at Magic World Cup

Wizards of the Coast

Over the weekend, the 2018 World Magic Cup just happened at Barcelona, Spain, and Team France ending up winning the whole tournament, so congrats to them! There's one other moment during the Top 8 that got the fans' attention, however, and that was during the semi-finals match between Israel and Hong Kong. Two-time Magic: The Gathering World Champion was caught drawing two cards during his turn when he was only supposed to draw one card. You can watch the video clip above.

As you can see above, Shenhar is playing his Izzet Drakes deck against Hong Kong's Izzet Drakes deck but at the beginning of his turn, he is seen drawing a card after activating Treasure Map but after transforming his artifact card, he draws another card for the turn. Of course, there's no way to tell if that illegal move was intentional but Shenhar doesn't have a history of shady play, so we can give him a benefit of a doubt. The judge quickly caught of this offense and the penalty was that they let his opponent "Thoughtseize" Shenhar, meaning the opponent gets to remove any card of his choice from his hand.

It's probably just a mistake but what do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments section below.
